The
Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously adopted
a resolution of support for the Adopt-A-Carp program at their September
2004 Board of Directors meeting. The chamber will ask its member
businesses to support the program and encourage their employees
to participate.
Bill
Russell, president of the Lake Norman Chamber expressed his support
of the Adopt-A-Carp program and gratitude to the organizers for
their innovative approach to the Hydrilla issue. "The lake
plays a critical role in the health and vitality of our business
climate in each of the lake towns. It is extremely important that
our business community respond to any issue which threatens our
water quality and the impact it may have on our business community.
We encourage each of our businesses to consider contributing to
this program and to ask their employees to participate. The chamber
of commerce would also like to express our gratitude to Matt Myers,
president of Bedford Falls Graphics, Inc., Gus Gustafason, and Lou
Mintzer for this unique and innovative approach to engage our residents
and businesses. The Adopt-A-Carp program is not only a way to raise
funds to manage the invasive plant, but to enlighten the public
on the threat to our water quality and lifestyle."
